Job Summary:
A leading manufacturer of plastic and paper packaging products, is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our corporate headquarters in Rochester, MI. Candidate must be a creative person who can implement innovative design into practical products.

Job Description:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Develop design ideas based on factors such as appearance, functional relationships, serviceability, materials, engineering methods and application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market and client specifications
* Generates development timelines related to new product development and product improvement programs
* Prepare benchmarking data for Marketing and Engineering.
* Works with Quality Assurance to establish QA procedures and testing for new products (DFMEA, PPAP, DVP&R…)
* Updates 3D files, drawings and specs. to implement ongoing changes
* Generates 3D files, drawings and spec. sheets for new product development
* Weekly program status report and program timelines updated accordingly


Requirements:

* Must be able to demonstrate innovation and creativity
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum of 7-10 years experience in plastic part design and injection molding
* Solidworks CAD experience (Catia 5 experience will be considered)
* Working background in ergonomics and tolerance studies
* Project management skills & ability to stick to timelines
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Drafting skills/sketching capability
* Solid geometry development
* Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
* Must be able to produce portfolio upon request
