Purpose & Description:
To provide Body Shop Project Engineering expertise with focus on quality products and efficient execution to help drive customer satisfaction along with overall project profitability.

Essential Functions:
Engineer custom body shop solutions based on quoted project deliverables and change orders
Develop and maintain the following for each assigned project:
Technical Plan to define project deliverables and execution direction to accomplish each
To include detailed engineering specifications for new/custom developments
Detailed bid specifications for outside contracted services
Review/update weekly all assigned project open issues
Design reviews for all projects requiring new developments
Customer approvals for all new designs
Approved engineering packages released as BaaN E-items for each project
Development of project run-off requirements
Support Continuous Improvement of BSG Engineering Standards and refinement of ISO processes
Lead engineering / development of standard solutions based on common customer needs
Manage project costs through efficient engineering and focus on lower cost solutions
Support manufacturing / integration efforts on FRA floor
Support field installation as required
Support sales and quoting efforts as required.
JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITY
Minimum Requirements:
1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Detailed and broad knowledge of body shop processing and resistance welding for flexible auto body manufacturing
Advanced knowledge / experience with robotics in body shop applications including robot
interfacing, programming, or peripheral equipment integration/operation
AutoCAD, RobCad, PC or PLC programming experience
Specialization in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Weld Process required
2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Bachelor degree in a Technical Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience
Three or more years automation experience
3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY
Physical condition must allow incumbent to move freely throughout the facility.
Ability to accept the physical strain of extensive and demanding travel itineraries.
4. VISUAL ACRUITY, HEARING, SPEAKING
Good visual acuity, hearing and speaking is required
Clear and concise presentation skills
5. ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING
Occasional travel required
Willing to work occasional overtime when required to meet special deadlines in response to customer requirements.
